Indiana Farming Family Has No Tolerance for Weeds

Something went wrong. Please try again later...

Indiana native Jared Kakasuleff and his farming family strive to continually evolve their operation through the adoption of innovative technologies and opportunities, which leads to growth.

Jared and his brother, George, also share something that was handed down to them by their father: great pride in weed control.

“Weed control on this farm is critical,” Jared Kakasuleff says. “We don’t tolerate weeds. We want to take that competition away from the growing crop.”

Kakasuleff knows weeds rob fertility and yield potential — another thing that will not be permitted, because at the end of the day, yield is converted into dollars.

Mother Nature brought Indiana a warmer winter and earlier spring last year, which caused waterhemp to take off. Kakasuleff Farms also had to deal with marestail — but not for long.

The family members’ commitment to adopt new technologies led them to a herbicide solution that not only delivered the early and season-long weed control they require but also enabled more application flexibility.
